With the help of the local media and dedicated members of the community, Butterfield was apprehended in West Virginia and is now be behind bars, waiting an extradition hearing. Greene Washington Regional Police Department would like to thank everyone involved.

On July 21, 2024, Greene Washington Regional Chief William DeForte, Sgt Nathan Ferree, and Sgt Robert Gahagan completed an intensive training course that involved Firearms, and simulation of active school, shooting events. The course and curriculum was created by the Israeli Mossad.

Chief William DeForte and his Daughter, Valeria attending Perry Township memorial day parade. Greene Washington Regional Police Department is honored in serving such an amazing community and was grateful for being able to hand out candy and drive the police car through the parade.

Today, the GCRPD, in conjunction with the Supervisors of Morris, Perry, and Wayne Townships, delivered a trunk full of presents to Greene County CYS for their Angel Tree. Together, we were able to fulfill 22 Angel wishes for children in Greene County, and we wish them all a Merry Christmas.

Today at the Township Supervisors Convention, the GCRPD Board presented awards to the following Officers for the excellent performance of their duties.
Chief Zach Sams received a Medal of Merit and a Purple Heart. Captain William DeForte received a Medal of Merit and a Medal of Commendation. Also receiving awards for assisting the GCRPD with a successful narcotics search warrant are Sheriff Marcus Simms, Officer Jesse Caldwell, and Deputy Don Pope, who was not able to be present. The GCRPD Board of Supervisors thanks these Officers for going above and beyond the normal scope of their duties. Congratulations!
